No matter how well skin is preserved and cared for, everyone eventually develops facial lines and wrinkles. Fortunately, there are a number of options available to remove many of the lines that come with aging. BOTOX® Cosmetic is an extremely quick approach to softening or removing the natural lines and wrinkles between the eyes, on the sides of the eyes (crow’s feet), and on the forehead. BOTOX® Cosmetic is FDA-approved to temporarily smooth or remove these lines in patients ages 18 to 65. During this treatment, Dr. Barroner will personally administer a few small injections directly into the muscles that cause these facial lines. The procedure requires no recovery time and causes little discomfort. Your entire treatment takes approximately 15-20 minutes.
After receiving BOTOX® treatment, patients can return to work the same day. A patient’s facial muscles will relax within two to ten days after treatment, causing wrinkles to either lessen or disappear completely. The muscles will continue to remain in a relaxed state for three to four months after treatment. If you discontinue treatments, the facial wrinkles will gradually re-appear. Patients who receive treatments on a regular schedule will likely find that BOTOX® treatments are effective for longer periods of time. Our staff will help you keep track of your treatment schedule.
Yes, your facial expressions will continue to look natural. Although the results of BOTOX® Cosmetic are visible, it will not make you look as if you “had work done”. The muscle activity that cause facial lines between the brow is simply reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised.

XEOMIN® is a similar drug to BOTOX® and has recently been FDA-approved as a new Botulism Toxin for the smoothing of lines and wrinkles in the face. Like other treatments in this category, XEOMIN® works by relaxing the muscles that cause facial wrinkles. The treatment blocks the signals from the nerves to the muscles. It takes about 1 week to see the full effects of XEOMIN® and results last from three to six months.

JUVÉDERM® is an injectable gel used to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. Young, healthy skin contains a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid. As you age, exposure to sunlight and other factors can reduce the amount of hyaluronic acid in a person’s skin. The loss of hyaluronic acid causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating facial wrinkles and folds. JUVÉDERM® works to correct this by restoring hyaluronic acid in your skin, helping to diminish wrinkles and nasolabial folds.
The JUVÉDERM® family of dermal fillers is formulated with innovative HYLACROSS™ technology, resulting in a smooth-consistency gel that flows easily into the skin and creates a natural look and feel for patients. JUVÉDERM® is the only hyaluronic acid filler that is FDA-approved to last up to one year with only one treatment.
If you would like to learn more about JUVÉDERM®, please schedule a consultation with Dr. Barroner today.
While the JUVÉDERM® family of fillers is one of the most well recognized, there are several other Hyaluronic Acid Fillers which may work best for your needs. Other fillers which Dr. Barroner commonly uses are RESTYLANE® brand of fillers as well as REVANESSE® VERSA & BELOTERO BALANCE.
