PRE-SURGERY GUIDELINES
NITROUS OXIDE
Your comfort, safety, and well-being are our highest priorities. Please review these pre-treatment instructions carefully, as failing to follow them—or any sudden changes in your medical history—may require us to reschedule your appointment for your own safety.
Eating and Drinking Restrictions
You may eat a light meal up to three hours before your appointment. However, you must not eat or drink anything within the three hours immediately leading up to your treatment with laughing gas.
Accompaniment and Drivers
Patients under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who must remain in the office for the entire appointment. Patients over 18 years old are not required to bring a driver, though you are welcome to have someone accompany you if you prefer.
Hygiene and Clothing
Please brush and floss your teeth thoroughly the morning of your surgery. On the day of your appointment, wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, such as a short-sleeve t-shirt, along with comfortable sneakers.
Do not wear heels, flip-flops, or sandals.
Jewelry and Piercings
Please remove all facial and tongue piercings before your appointment. You may wear earrings as long as they are small, fit close to the ear, and are not large hoops.
Contact Lenses
If you wear contact lenses, please wear your glasses to the office instead on the day of surgery, or bring your contact case and solution so you can safely remove your lenses before the procedure.
Medications and Prescriptions
Take all of your regularly scheduled medications as usual unless your doctor explicitly tells you otherwise. If you were prescribed the antimicrobial mouth rinse, Peridex, you must begin using it two days before your procedure. Use the rinse two times each day and use it one final time on the morning of your scheduled appointment.
Medical Changes and Questions
Please notify our office immediately at (724) 260-5009 if you experience any recent changes in your health/medical history medications or experiencing symptoms like a cough, cold, congestion, fever, chills, or a sore throat. You can also call us at any time if you have questions about these instructions.
