TRANEXAMIC ACID 4.8% SOLUTION

This medication has been made specifically for you. Tranexamic acid is a medication used to decrease bleeding after surgery. If you are taking a blood thinner such as Coumadin (Warfarin), Heparin, Xarelto, Eliquis, or Brilinta; or an antiplatelet therapy such as Plavix or Aspirin – use of this medication means you may not have to stop taking your current medicine.

Patient Instructions:

Dampen the gauze with Tranexamic Acid and place it directly over the extraction site.

Bite down with gentle pressure for at least 30 minutes, then change the gauze as needed for the first 4 to 5 hours until it is only lightly spotted.

If bleeding continues past 5 hours, hold 2 teaspoons (10ml) of the liquid in your mouth for 2 minutes and then spit it out gently, being careful not to spit forcefully so you do not disturb the blood clot.

You can repeat this rinsing process every 5 hours for 6 to 10 doses, if the bleeding persists.

Always remember to close the bottle cap tightly, immediately after use.
